A custom Facebook Page

For Free!

Having dabbled with the creation of a customised Facebook Page for the charity I work for and succeeding, it was unfortunate that Sprout, the company used to create it, decided on discontinuing the facility to do so and instead charge you £3,000 for the privilege. What charity are going to pay that amount of money for not a lot of return?

For the past couple of months I've been using a volunteer who is studying at university and is learning web code and how to use Flash etc. Along with one of my part-time colleagues who is a whizz in that area, they have been slowly creating a bespoke landing page for our charity's Facebook Page.

However, not every charity has the luxury of those resources and recently I stumbled across what is such an easy resource that could be utilised by absolutely anybody, you don't even have to know about design or HTML or anything like that and what's more, it's absolutely free!

Welcome to Pagemodo. If you go to their website there's a really helpful video showing you just how easy it is to get your own customised Facebook Page. All you need to do is log in with your Facebook details via Facebook Connect and then you pick from two template designs. It lets you choose your images, write some intro text and then this really is the amazingly simple bit, you just click 'install'. It does it all for you.

And that really is it. I couldn't just sit on this nugget and keep it to myself, I think that any charity who has very little resource in the digital world should utilise this tool - because it's free and of course Because It's Good.
